Branches of a Poem
A Poem, this poem
isn’t much
Like most poems
there’s a random
story being told
Nothing new, usually old
but there’s something
in making them
As if a toothache
has been lessoned—
As if your bones
no longer pain
As if a snowflake
cooled your whole hot
body in one quick sizzle.
At the end of each
poem
it is like blowing out
a candle.
